• Raised over $9 million in support of LRA's agenda to fund fact-based research into Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Fundraising has been our primary mission and the cornerstone of our success. With the completion of 8 major events: Lyme Research Alliance , Lyme Research Alliance in New York, Lyme Research Alliance at the Lymelight, Lyme Research Alliance Rocks Miami’s South Beach, Explore for a Cure in New Canaan and A Rockin’ House Party, Dream Gala, and Illusions of Lyme, we have been able to support research at esteemed institutions around the country as well as the Columbia Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Research Center and education programs;
  • Created a partnership with Columbia University Medical Center to establish and endow a Lyme and Tick-borne Disease Research Center in New York City at Columbia. Three million dollars was donated towards the opening of this Center;
  • Reached thousands of people with educational forums and community health fairs. In addition, LRA has educated thousands more via its website TimeForLyme.org, at support groups and fundraising events, and through organizing public hearings. Educational packets have been distributed to many thousands of individuals and families;
  • Won the Light a Fire Award from Moffly Publications. The award was received on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Sheraton, Stamford CT. Moffly media’s first Light a Fire Awards saluted those who had gone beyond the ordinary to extraordinary in their giving back to their community. From philanthropists and volunteers to organizations helping families, children and the community, 12 honorees were selected based on the contributions they have made to help those in need in Fairfield County;
  • Created a one-hour video, “A Time for Lyme— Students, Teachers and Lyme Disease,” in partnership with the Greenwich Department of Health and Greenwich Public Schools, which is currently distributed in 23 states, the District of Columbia and Canada;
  • Developed and implemented an educational curriculum in partnership with Greenwich Public Schools which includes two films, reproducible material and evaluations;
  • Established a monthly support group for patients and families suffering with Lyme disease;
  • Produced, in partnership with the Red Cross, a travel tick removal kit;
  • Featured in the award-winning PBS documentary on Lyme disease, narrated by actress Meryl Streep;
